Create (Burn) CDs

If you have a CD-R/RW, you can create your own Audio or Data CDs from files in your Media Center collection. For more information about copying/burning, see CD Burning Tips from the Media Center Interact Help menu

Audio CDs can be played on any CD player; Data CDs are only for computers and certain consumer electronics units that can handle MP3 or WMA files. If you select audio format, your files will be converted to WAV format files before writing to the CD.

You should also be aware that not all blank CDs will play in audio systems. It is a safe bet to go with "Gold" blank CDs.

For Windows XP

In some cases, Windows XP’s built-in burner can interfere with Media Center. To disable it, right click on the My Computer icon, select properties, then find your CD-R/RW drive and right click on its icon. Select Drive properties, go to the Recording tab and uncheck "Enable CD recording on this drive". You will have to reboot.
