Playing Now

The Playing Now screen is the hub of Media Center. Playing Now is an ordered Playlist created automatically when you play any (or many) media files. It also works as a regular Playlist, in that you can send files to it in a number of ways, and you can order them the way you want.

Selecting Playing Now also changes the display mode of the content pane. If you look at the picture of Media Center, you will see that the content pane is divided into three parts: the display pane, the list, and file properties. All three panes are connected by splitter bars, which you can slide to modify the proportions of each pane. You can also hide a pane completely by clicking on the appropriate arrow in any one of the splitter bars.

For your convenience, the Playing Now Playlist is saved when you exit Media Center and automatically restored the next time you open it. You can have Media Center automatically start playing the Playing Now list when you open the program. Go to Tools | Options | Startup Settings | Start playing current Playlist

You can set Media Center to automatically jump to the ‘Playing Now’ screen during playback. Go to Tools | Options | General | Jump on play and select "Playing Now (always)".

See Display Plug-ins for information on Visualizations, Track Info Templates, and Viewing Images while in Playing Now.
